On September 20, 2025, Sofia achieved a new inhumane Bulgarian Guinness record – for the Largest Dog Cake in the World. The author of the cake is Dr. Kostadin Shankov – a veterinarian and specialized dog chef. The creation has impressive dimensions of 1.77 m by 1.55 m and weighs 305.8 kg, made entirely from natural products that meet Guinness World Records standards.
The process of preparing the application lasted for months, with all strict Guinness requirements observed. The cake itself was prepared in the last 7 days – from ingredient selection and preparation to construction and frosting in the last 24 hours – with a team of 5 people working on it day and night. The cake contains 120 kg of beef, and 15 sq. m of cake layers were used for its construction, enough to feed 300 medium-sized dogs or over 3500 Chihuahuas for one day.
The attempt was monitored by independent witnesses, professional measurers, representatives of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA), and official representatives of Guinness World Records. After official confirmation, the cake was distributed among the pets of those present, and dozens of boxes were sent as donations to various dog shelters, which the chain supports with regular donation campaigns.
The event was a real celebration for dogs and their owners and managed to bring Bulgaria worldwide recognition – The Largest Dog Cake!
