INTEGRA® PROTECT Diabetes Cat - 100 g - special diet for diabetic cats with two flavors: chicken and beef
A blood sugar disorder known as diabetes mellitus occurs relatively frequently in cats. It is a metabolic disease involving a chronic increase in blood sugar content. This level is usually regulated by pancreatic hormones. Blood sugar rises after food consumption. The pancreas is the active part that produces insulin, and insulin is the only hormone that can lower blood sugar levels by transporting glucose into cells.
The most common form of diabetes mellitus in cats is when the pancreas produces less insulin, making cats increasingly less sensitive to insulin.
Therapy consists of insulin administration and is supported and supplemented by a dietary feeding with Integra Protect Diabetes, which is especially rich in protein and low in starch.
