The broadest spectrum of action:
Advocate is a combination of two active ingredients - imidacloprid and moxidectin.
It is intended for topical application (spot-on form). Thanks to the unique combination of active ingredients, the product acts simultaneously on internal and external parasites. It can also be successfully used for the prevention of Dirofilariasis.
Imidacloprid:
It is an ectoparasiticide belonging to the chloronicotinyl group of antiparasitic agents. Extremely effective against fleas, flea larvae, and lice. Imidacloprid has a strong affinity for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the postsynaptic membranes of the central nervous system of fleas. It prevents insects from feeding by paralyzing their mouths within 3-5 minutes after contact. It has a strong insecticidal effect, leading to paralysis and death. After application, it spreads within a few hours over the entire surface of the skin and localizes in the waterproof lipid layer of the skin.
Moxidectin:
Moxidectin is a second-generation macrocyclic lactone belonging to the milbemycin group. It is active against most internal and external parasites. It has nematocidal and insecticidal action. Moxidectin binds to the ion channel receptors of parasites, which facilitate the opening and closing of chloride channels, through GABA and glutamate chloride links, and activates the entry of chloride ions into the postsynaptic membrane, thereby causing their irreversible paralysis.
Moxidectin is absorbed through the skin and distributed evenly throughout the body via plasma lipoproteins.
