Composition:
Dinotefuran
In insects, it mimics acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter) which activates nerve impulses in the synapses.
Unlike acetylcholine, whose effect ends quickly, dinotefuran is not sensitive to synaptic enzymes. Dinotefuran binds permanently and causes prolonged and continuous nerve stimulation.
Dinotefuran causes paralysis and death in insects.
Kills fleas on contact; ingestion is not necessary.
After application, this component adheres to the dog's skin and coat.
It does not bind to mammalian acetylcholine receptors.
Exclusive molecule for Ceva in Europe and the USA.
Pyriproxyfen
Potent, long-lasting, and photostable.
Targets the reproduction and development of insects (fleas). Sterilizes adults, kills larvae, and prevents the hatching of new adult forms.
It mimics the growth hormone and thus regulates when the insect sheds its skin and proceeds to the next phase.
Normally, this hormone decreases over time, but pyriproxyfen keeps its levels too high for the transition to the next stage to occur, ultimately causing death.
Permethrin
Synthetic pyrethroid.
Repels parasites, knock-down effect.
Insecticide and acaricide that targets the nervous system of arthropods.
During a nerve impulse, sodium channels open and cause depolarization of the nerve.
Permethrin binds to a protein in these channels and prevents their normal closure.
This causes repetitive and continuous activity of sensory and motor pathways, leading to convulsions.
Parasites lose control of their nervous system, cannot move normally and coordinately, and die.
Vectra® 3D is packaged in opaque laminated aluminum tubes with a unique, patented applicator.
Vectra® 3D is available in 5 sizes according to weight, and can be used in adult dogs and puppies aged 7 weeks and up.
The safety of Vectra 3D has been established not only experimentally (according to European standards) but also in practice - in the USA after its market launch in 2007. All possible and expected side effects from pharmacovigilance data and experimental studies have been reviewed and evaluated. Transient redness, itching or other signs of discomfort at the application site have been reported after Vectra 3D application, but they are very rare and disappear spontaneously within 24 hours.
Gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting and diarrhea have also been reported, but they are even rarer. There may be transient cosmetic effects at the application site (wet coat, spiky hair, and product residue), but these are also rare and usually no longer visible 48 hours after application.
Each of these side effects is expected to occur in less than 1 in 10,000 animals.
The safety of Vectra 3D has been demonstrated in puppies aged 7 weeks and weighing 1.5 kg. (Study 1001)
24 Beagle puppies were divided into 3 groups. Each was administered Vectra 3D topically externally every 2 weeks for 12 consecutive weeks.
The first group was given the maximum recommended dose. The second and third groups were overdosed by 3 and 5 times the maximum recommended dose, respectively.
Aside from redness and cosmetic changes in the coat at the application site, no other adverse reactions were observed in healthy puppies aged 7 weeks, treated 7 times at 2-week intervals, and with 5 times the recommended dose.
Repeated application of Vectra 3D was well tolerated by puppies even with 5-fold overdose and application every 2 weeks.
Once applied, the active ingredients of Vectra 3D are distributed over the entire surface of the dog's skin. Thanks to their unique formula, they are distributed to different areas of the skin and remain for 1 month after application.
