For plants to grow well in the aquarium, they need: - light, indispensable for photosynthesis; - fertilization with mineral salts; - water with specific physicochemical properties; - carbon dioxide (CO2) - important for carbon assimilation;
During the day, plants absorb CO2 and release oxygen, an essential element for all aquarium inhabitants.
It is important for plants to always have enough CO2 so that the assimilation of carbon from carbonates does not lower the water hardness (KH) and pH.
We congratulate you on choosing the Ferplast CO2 system. The CO2 system is a new product from Ferplast's MAREX series. The CO2 Energy system is an innovative system, combining respect for the health of natural plants and fish in the aquarium, with all safety measures taken.
CO2 Energy was created thanks to the experience and enthusiasm of the Ferplast research and development team, who investigated the significant influence of carbon dioxide in an aquarium arranged with natural plants. The kit contains all the necessary parts for the system to operate.
To thrive in the aquarium, natural plants need:
- light (at least 8-9 hours a day) to perform photosynthesis;
- fertilizer (important for the adsorption of mineral salts);
- water with the correct chemical-physical composition;
- carbon dioxide (important for carbon assimilation). During the day, plants absorb CO2 and release oxygen into the environment, which is necessary for all living creatures in the aquarium. At night, the reverse process occurs (plants release carbon dioxide, so additional oxygen must be introduced for the fish to breathe). It is also important to maintain the correct CO2 concentration in the aquarium. By assimilating CO2 from carbonates, some plants do not lower the water hardness or pH too much (KH <4 dH; pH <6). CO2 in the form of carbonic acid acts not only as a fertilizer but also as a pH regulator (increasing the concentration of CO2 in the water lowers the pH).

Ferplast guarantees the CO2 system and all parts and accessories for a period of 2 years. The warranty covers only manufacturing defects and provides free replacement of the damaged part. The warranty does not cover damage or defects caused by negligence, improper installation and operation according to the operating instructions in this brochure, or damages and repairs not performed by a specialist.
