Pro-Kolin Advanced
Flavouring
Pro-Kolin Advanced contains new and improved flavourings for dogs (liver) and
cats (chicken). Both flavourings are artificial, contain no proteins or allergens,
and can be used in animals with known hypersensitivity.
Directions for Use
• Easy-to-use syringe
• New and improved formula
• New, highly palatable, improved flavouring –
different flavours for dogs and cats!
Administer directly into the mouth, for as long
as necessary. Pro-Kolin Advanced can
be given up to three times daily, depending on
the severity of the condition.
Probiotics
Pro-Kolin Advanced contains the EU-registered probiotic bacterium Enterococcus faecium
(NCIMB 10415) 4b1707. Enterococcus faecium in Pro-Kolin Advanced has been shown to survive
passage through the digestive tract for maximum efficacy.
Prebiotics
Preplex® prebiotics is a combination of two different types of prebiotics –
fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) and acacia (gum arabic), which is unique
to Protexin Veterinary. This combination ensures that Pro-Kolin Advanced
stimulates the growth of beneficial bacteria in different areas of the
digestive tract:
Proximal colon – FOS reach the large
intestine intact, as they are not digested by enzymes in the small
intestine. In the large intestine, some beneficial bacteria (Bifidobacterium
spp. and Lactobacillus spp.) readily ferment FOS, leading to an
increase in their numbers. As FOS have a low molecular
weight, they are utilised in this part of the colon.
Distal colon – Gum arabic has a complex
branched structure and ferments more slowly in the distal colon.
Pro-Kolin Advanced
Pectin
Pectin belongs to the soluble fibres that rapidly
ferment in the large intestine. Alongside its action
as an effective prebiotic, pectin is also known for its soothing
effect on the intestinal mucosa.
Pro-Kolin Advanced
Psyllium
Psyllium belongs to the soluble dietary fibres and has the ability to absorb
excess water in the digestive tract, forming a viscous, gel-like
substance. This increases the viscosity of the faeces, which helps
to soothe and normalise transit time in the intestines.1,2,3
Binders
Pro-Kolin Advanced contains pharmaceutical
grade clay, which acts as a binder
and supports normal
digestive functions. Different
forms of clay have different properties,
which affect their ability to
absorb and adsorb:
Absorption – excess fluids in the
gastrointestinal tract enter the
clay molecules.
Adsorption – the ability to bind
compounds, bacteria, viruses, and
enterotoxins to the outer surface of
the clay molecules.
The use of a combination of kaolin and montmorillonite provides an optimal balance
between absorption and adsorption and offers a dual benefit to the animal.
Beta-glucans
Beta-glucans, especially those with 1,3/1,6 linkages in their chemical structure, have been shown to
stimulate natural immunity. Immune cells, such as macrophages, have dectin-1
receptors that recognise and respond to beta-1,3/1,6-glucans, leading to
increased antimicrobial activity, enhanced cellular defence, and improved resistance
to diseases.4,5
Taurine
Contained only in Pro-Kolin Advanced for cats
An essential amino acid for cats, it is necessary for maintaining many
normal physiological processes, including (but not limited to) vision, digestion,
heart muscle function, and maintaining a healthy immune system. Homemade,
monotonous diets, which may be recommended for cats with digestive
disorders, are often low in taurine. Pro-Kolin Advanced for cats provides a source for
maintaining taurine levels during periods when such diets are recommended.
