Protazol - Aquarium water treatment.
Available in 25 ml and 100 ml packages.
Areas of application: for treating white spot disease (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) and other single skin parasites such as Ichthyobodo and Chilodonella species.
Main signs of parasite infestation include loss of appetite and weight loss, reduced movement, clamped fins, darkening of color, and rubbing against objects in the aquarium.
· Small white spots on the fins and skin of fish are characteristic of the causative agent of this disease.
· Grey-white mucus on the fins indicates the presence of the skin parasite Ichthyobodo or Costia.
· Other parasites (e.g., Chilodonella and Trichodina) particularly attack weakened fish.
· White, cotton-like growths, especially on injured areas of fish and eggs, are typical of fungi (Saprolegnia or Achlya).
Whenever possible, a microscopic examination of skin or gill samples should be performed to confirm the diagnosis.
Contraindications and side effects: Protazol can harm lotus plants, so they should be removed from the aquarium before treatment. During prolonged treatment, it is possible to stimulate the reproduction of beneficial bacteria, which can cause water cloudiness by consuming oxygen. In such a case, water changes should be performed according to the dosage instructions. Please notify the retailers of this product if you encounter any other side effects.
Dosage instructions: Shake before use! Add 1 ml of Protazol per 20 liters of water. Distribute the dosage evenly over the surface of the aquarium water and then stir with a spoon or stick. During treatment with the product, turn off UV lamps and biofilters. Ensure good aeration. After 24 hours, change 80% of the water in the aquarium. If the water becomes cloudy, change it immediately. Dead Ichthyophthirius parasites can be observed after 2 days as white, scattered spots. In most cases, one treatment is sufficient, but for more severe diseases, repeat the procedure after 4-5 days. The medication should not be overdosed, as weaker fish may be sensitive.
Keep out of reach of children and pets! Protect skin and eyes! Store at room temperature in a place away from direct sunlight.
Special advice: Do not use on fish intended for human consumption! Through newly introduced fish, plants, or live food into the aquarium, there is a risk of disease transmission. Weak fish or individual stressful situations can also trigger disease outbreaks.
Fish can also be treated preventively with Protazol in the manner described for diseased conditions. Protazol is, as far as known, equally well tolerated by snails, shrimp, and plants. Do not use after the expiration date!
