Sera Nature makes the feeding of ornamental fish even more natural. All food types from the series (e.g., Sera San Nature) are based on the compositions of their namesakes (e.g., San) but are produced without the use of colorants and preservatives. The color of the flakes comes exclusively from added natural ingredients such as Haematococcus algae and krill, spirulina, or sustainably produced feed from Hermetia flies.

Goldy Nature is the staple food for smaller goldfish and their fancy varieties, as well as other coldwater fish. It contains insect meal as a high-quality protein source. These are edible insects, corresponding to the natural dietary spectrum of ornamental fish. However, there are other good reasons for using insects in ornamental fish food: Food derived from black soldier fly larvae (Hermetia illucens) is rich in protein, very easily digestible for ornamental fish, and provides the necessary nutritional profile.
