The second most common cause of premature death in pets after oncological problems (and sharing first place with them in cats) is kidney failure, which in 99% of cases is chronic. Kidneys have the disadvantage, when they fall into functional insufficiency (due to age, hormonal problems, infection, cold, hydronephrosis, trauma, etc.), of "committing suicide," triggering "panic" pathological compensatory mechanisms and involving certain hormonal responses in the pathological process. The vascular system is also involved in the renal degenerative pathological circular cascade, and syndromes such as polydipsia, polyuria, nausea and vomiting, anorexia, cachexia, acidosis, intoxication, changes in urine composition, bad breath - a sign of metabolic disorders - are very often involved both as consequences and as contributing factors. Timely diagnosis of kidney failure is extremely important long before the appearance of clinical signs (weight loss, capricious appetite, vomiting, bad breath, etc.) - for this purpose, we recommend annual SDMA blood tests for all patients over 6 years of age (and for predisposed breeds, as early as one year of age).

The recommended dose during treatment of acute or already diagnosed chronic kidney failure is 1-2 capsules twice daily per 2.5 kg of body weight. For prevention against the onset of CKF, the dose is 1 capsule per 2.5 - 5 kg every 24 hours.
