Proper digestion requires adequate secretion of gastric juice (protein digestion), bile (fat digestion), and pancreatic juice (digestion of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates). Insufficient secretion leads to chronic, intractable diarrhea, as well as many other unpleasant signs (weight loss).
Regardless of the type of product used to maintain the digestive tract, from a physiological perspective, the most important thing is the stimulation of natural processes leading to the secretion of gastric, bile, and pancreatic juice.
TriDigest is a product that stimulates the secretion of these juices, supports the regenerative action of the liver, and maintains the urea cycle.
Active ingredients:
For gastric juice secretion – BETAINE
Betaine is a trimethyl derivative of the amino acid glycine. It is available on the market as a dietary supplement extracted from sugar beets. Used as betaine hydrochloride, it stimulates hydrochloric acid secretion, lowers stomach pH, and thus supports the denaturation of dietary proteins and increases the efficiency of protein breakdown under the action of pancreatic enzymes.
For bile secretion - ARTICHOKE
Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L) is used as an ingredient in the supportive treatment of liver diseases, as well as in disorders of the stomach's secretory function. Part of its activity is due to the antioxidant properties of artichoke extract. On the other hand, artichoke extract stimulates bile secretion, increases the concentration of bile acids in the bile, and stimulates bile flow into the small intestine. Luteolin and cynarin, contained in the extract, perform a hepatoprotective function and also stabilize the metabolism of cholesterol and fatty acids in the liver.
For pancreatic juice secretion – LICORICE
Licorice extract has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties, and has hepatoprotective and secretory effects. Its use is recommended in the treatment of stomach ulcers and dyspepsia. It stimulates the secretion of the endogenous hormone secretin, which in turn stimulates the secretion of bicarbonates from the pancreas, leading to increased production of pancreatic juice. This activity is likely a result of increased mucus production by elevating prostaglandin levels in the intestinal wall.
Hepatoprotective action – PHOSPHOLIPIDS AND ORNITHINE
Phospholipids perform protective and regenerative functions concerning liver cells. They support faster regeneration of a damaged liver. Phospholipids are necessary for the processes of proliferation and differentiation of liver cells. They inhibit liver fibrosis. Ornithine is recommended for liver support by regulating the urea cycle. It is of great importance in cats – it reduces ammonia toxicity. It is especially recommended for cats suffering from hepatic encephalopathy.
